Maintaining the tradition of the Barwick maypole

Welcome to the website of the Barwick-in-Elmet Maypole Trust. We are a charitable organisation aiming to preserve this important and well loved part of our village’s heritage… for both current and future generations. Whether you are a village resident, a local visitor, or surfing the web from the other side of the world, you are very welcome here. We hope visitors will find these pages both informative and entertaining, and we hope to bring you a wealth of interesting maypole related content (such as a recently rediscovered 1978 cine camera film).

This is a very much a community website, and we positively encourage your input. We would love to hear your stories and read about your memories, and (with your permission) would like to share these with others. We would also love to know your general thoughts and views about the maypole in the have your say page (the more input we receive, the better the site will be for everyone).

The Barwick-in-Elmet maypole would simply not exist without the hard work and dedication of the Maypole Trust committee, a select group of volunteers and the support of the local community. You can play your part too, by supporting our events, sending us your photos (and movies) or becoming a Friend of the pole.
